Today I saw a post showing the form anti-diversity and anti-immigrant thinking takes in the U.K. The post belittled the perspective:
The good old days when shops didn't have doors, windows had flags mounted in them, the local bakers sold baguettes and we used decimal currency?
It was posted by a British BlueSky poster named David Higham @oldtrotter.bsky.social. As Higham points out, the image is AI slop, which is all-too-popular with right-wingers.
His post had a lot of comments. Here are a few of my favorites:
Whilst there are absolutely problems with the exodus of trade from high streets to out of town retail parks, these people's rose-tinted (fascist) view of this mythical past makes me want to beat their shins with a spade. (accompanied by three photos)

Do they realise they are free to open all these businesses and decorate them just like that if they feel their local high street would reward them with increased patronage? But that takes more than just angrily feeding prompts into an AI Generator... or learning nobody REALLY gives a shit.

This looks like the set they would build at Epcot Center for something called England World.

Looks a bit 15 minute town to me. Bloody Stalinists.
