Please Stop Him

So many things Trump's regime is doing make me angry and aghast I can't list them all. Just today the EPA (now so-called) decreed it would redefine air quality so it doesn't have to regulate the output from power plants. And of course ICE and CBP continue to abduct harmless people in order to make the U.S. into a whites-only country.

But the thing I want to call attention to in detail is Trump's commandeering of the military at Fort Bragg [sic] yesterday to make a political speech full of lies. According to military.com, he or his staff violated multiple rules about military neutrality, selecting pro-Trump service members to sit behind him (who, of course, were almost all white men), overtly excluding "fat" people, and bringing in a pop-up vendor to sell pro-Trump merchandise. This stuff included, in addition to the usual MAGA dreck, "faux credit cards labeled 'White Privilege Card: Trumps Everything.'" I can't even tell if that's supposed to be sarcastic or serious.

According to military.com, "Permitting the sale of overtly partisan merchandise on an Army base likely runs afoul of numerous Defense Department regulations..."

The speech itself was completely vile, over the top even for Trump. It was part of his current campaign to make the current situation in Los Angeles look like it's out of control, when the only thing out of control is government actions: various levels of law enforcement literally trampling protesters with horses, for instance.

Molly P. on BlueSky reported that a 23-year-old right-wing YouTuber was seen filming at the Minneapolis CBP action last week, and that he's now on the ground in L.A. His only experience as a journalist, she says, is "filming high school prank videos and anti-immigrant pro-Trump 'gotcha' content for YouTube." But he "just happened" to be available the day before CBP showed up in Minneapolis, "camera in hand, perfectly positioned to script a federal crackdown in real time? You don’t just stumble into a scene like that. You’re sent."

And X/Twitter, I hear, is full of AI-generated imaginary images and reports of devastation in L.A., when the city is completely intact. How soon before a crew of Kyle Rittenhouse wannabes show up to help the National Guard and Marines "protect" the buildings from rioters who don't exist and shoot some brown people?

Trump topped off his illegal rant at the fort by proclaiming he would revert the names of military bases formerly named for traitorous Confederate generals, including Robert E. Lee.

We know what year they think it was when America was great: 1850. They're doing everything they can to drive us back to it, but more and more people are resisting. No Kings: June 14. And I hope it rains on his parade.

And in a touch of Stephen Miller-level despicableness, the claim is that bases are being renamed for other people in military service with the same last names.
