It's getting a bit warmer here in the Great North, so I managed to go to a demonstration this morning outside one of our local Tesla dealerships. It was still below freezing, but compared to what it's been like, it was positively balmy.
The Twin Cities Tesla dealerships are all located in suburbs where there are no sidewalks. This one is on a four-lane divided highway with cars whizzing past at 50 mph or more. There's no way to get to it except by car, either, and nowhere to park on the side streets; this suburb bans parking on all of its streets.
The right of way alongside the highway is owned by the state, however, even though there isn't a sidewalk, and the side street next to the dealership is owned by the suburb. So we could stand in the snow, facing the car drivers going past. Many of them honked in appreciation or agreement.
Just a few men yelled abuse. One guy in a giant, fancy pickup truck told us to get a $#$% job... which was profound, since it's Saturday, and one of the demonstrators is a federal worker motivated by the firing of other federal workers.
There were 18 people out this morning; last Saturday there were seven people there, they told me.
Anyway, here's the sign I brought:
