How Big the Fires Are

If you're trying to get a sense of the size of the three largest fires burning in California, this mapping tool from the nonprofit news site Cal Matters can drop the outline of the Palisades, Eaton, or Hurst fires over any address to compare their sizes to a geography you're familiar with.

Here's an example someone else made showing the Palisades fire mapped onto Minneapolis (and Saint Paul):

It would stretch from the western suburb of St. Louis Park, all across South and Southeast and some of Northeast Minneapolis, through my part of western St. Paul and up into the inner-ring north suburb of Roseville.
