I've mentioned Project 2025 a fair amount, and lots of people have written about. I just heard that polling shows about 55% of U.S. adults are aware of it and don't like it. Yay for that! I hope it translates into votes in the needed states.
Here's a quote from page 13 I hadn't heard before:
When the Founders spoke of "pursuit of Happiness," what they meant might be understood today as in essence "pursuit of Blessedness." That is, an individual must be free to live as his Creator ordained — to flourish. Our Constitution grants each of us the liberty to do not what we want, but what we ought. This pursuit of the good life is found primarily in family — marriage, children, Thanksgiving dinners, and the like. Many find happiness through their work. Think of dedicated teachers or health care professionals you know, entrepreneurs or plumbers throwing themselves into their businesses — anyone who sees a job well done as a personal reward. Religious devotion and spirituality are the greatest sources of happiness...
Hooboy!
From the assumption that they can interpret the Founders, to the unexamined belief that the Founders' intentions should rule today, to the definition of the "good life" with its laughable inclusion of Thanksgiving dinners when Thanksgiving as the national holiday we know today was established during Lincoln's time and the dinners they have in mind are a 20th century invention... not to mention the way they cloak entrepreneurs (I'm thinking hedge-funders and billionaire-wannabes) with health care professionals, plumbers, and teachers — who they usually denigrate as left-wing indoctrinators.
I'm not surprised writers for the Heritage Foudnation are completely shameless.
And then there are the last few words, lecturing us that religious devotion is the greatest source of happiness. Well, of course, that must be true in Christian Taliban America.
As the current majority on the Supreme Court has been demonstrating, you don't have to change the Constitution if you can instead change what it means.
