Do Better, Star Tribune

This headline in today's Star Tribune is misleading and bad, and the only question is whether it's intentional:

Anoka-Hennepin, located in the surburbs north of Minneapolis, is the largest school system in Minnesota. Diversity didn't lead to divisiveness there. Diversity is part of life.

The election of three right-wing members of the school board has led to divisiveness, which the story describes. The board is tied, 3–3, between members who recognize the system's students live in the present-day, and members who don't.

The three members who want to get rid of the 21st century are following the game plan of national groups. One of the three is cited as saying he and the other two members

could not support ... teachings on systemic racism, the use of preferred pronouns, culturally responsive teaching, social justice, social-emotional learning, the state's new social studies standards, the use of restorative practices in place of suspensions and expulsions and the flying of any flag other than the American flag.

In contrast, the headline for the online version of this story is "Showdown over diversity programs threatens Anoka-Hennepin schools budget" (gift link), which is a much more fair representation of the story's content.

See, they do know how to write a headline that's exciting (showdown! threatens!) but is still fair and accurate. It's an argument over diversity, unfortunately, but diversity didn't lead to it.
