Aubrey Hirsch Draws About Breastfeeding

The national baby formula shortage has led to an awful lot of people lecturing women about breastfeeding, as if you can suddenly start breastfeeding when you aren't already doing it. 

Explanatory illustrator Aubrey Hirsch created a visual essay about it called The many, many costs of breastfeeding. The subhead gives the gist: "Breastfeeding isn’t free — and it isn’t a solution to the national baby formula shortage."

It has a lot of details about what it's like to breastfeed, but the parts I found most enlightening were about economics:
