I Can't Do It

I thought I could do it. I thought I could watch (or at least fast-forward through) the RNC. I know I watched a lot of it in 2016. I distinctly remember the Mulligan children's speeches and hearing Mafia Mulligan himself say the words, "I alone can fix it" in real time.

I started out this week skipping only parts of it, but each day I've skipped more. Last night I zipped through almost all of it, listening only to the MSNBC critiques between speeches, highlighting the lies and omissions.

Tonight I have not yet tuned in at 8:45 central time. I'm not sure I can face Ivanka's smirk, let alone Donald himself.

Meanwhile, Jacob Blake, paralyzed by seven bullets to back, is handcuffed to his hospital bed by police. For what? They won't say. Two men are dead and one injured by a 17-year-old white supremacist who was driven to Kenosha by his mother, also a white supremacist.

Minneapolis for a second night and now Saint Paul for a first are under curfew after MPD couldn't deescalate a situation in downtown last night. Did anyone think these cities had "recovered"? That they had "healed"? With the Kenosha shootings, that was not to be expected.

Meanwhile, the RNC.
