Today is International Women's Day, and so the Facebook memes abound. Better than average, as it turns out. I particularly like this one:


It resonates with me, and not just because of the classic "women's issues."

It made me think of one of my past posts, called Some Things Were Better 40 Years Ago. Rereading that post had a new level of interest because of the Flint lead poisoning scandal: I wrote, "Until the bridge falls down or the water system fails, there's no glory to be had." Now we've got water systems failing, too. Oops.

When I wrote that, I was just imagining something that could happen, not realizing it was already happening in Flint at that point in early 2015.
