The first half of October 2026 seemed really long for some reason. I kept expecting it to be the 15th and it never was, until finally that day came.
It was two weeks of Trump inciting hatred of Somalis, the raid on Ilhan Omar's home, and reactions to Pete Hegseth announcing the livestreamed execution of the Fort Hood mass shooter. Elon Musk continued to exert and extend his control on society, both through direct financial contributions in the midterm elections and his companies' satellite infrastructure. Trump tried to make a "deal" with Russia about diesel fuel, selling out everyone else in the process. ICE continued to run amok, shooting a dad in New York City.

I disagree, categorically, that adding additional justices, even in a "tit-for-tat" way, is a "race to the bottom." I think having a great many *more* judges is actually good for democracy, representation, ethics, and limiting the importance and power of any individual judge. Furthermore, I think that if the court is going to act like a super-legislature, then it should be *treated* like a super-legislature, and tha means every incoming adminstration *should have to* bring with them the amount of justices necessary to have their agenda upheld. That's just democracy, baby.

The fallacy of the climate movement's electric car advocacy is belief it's faster to get people into EVs than into walkable homes where they can drive less. The reality is it's probably ten times faster to build homes in walkable neighborhoods than to convince people to buy electric cars.

the only thing – and i mean that literally, the ONLY thing Trump could do to make his base hate him – is to take their big gas guzzling cars. not killing a school full of children, not food prices, not staging a coup, not rape, not child rape, not insulting a disabled man on live television. only gas. fuck cars and what they do to the human brain and society, they are a menace that needs to be destroyed and removed from our civilization entirely, period the end.

Are robotaxis really "green"?
- "They're EVs!" Sure, but cars can go electric without autonomy.
- "They'll be shared!" Doubtful. Shared ride hail has fizzled.
- "They'll boost transit!" Ride hail made the same claim. Nope.
In fact, AVs could worsen the environment by inducing much more driving.
