Save Us from the SAVE Act

Aubrey Hirsch has done a graphic explainer on why the misnamed SAVE Act is bad.

Like all recent voter ID laws, the SAVE Act pretends to be about "voter integrity" when it's really about suppressing votes. It just kills me that the median voter, as in the recent Wisconsin election, can't seem to understand this. I'm just happy Minnesota voters managed to nix a similar initiative back in 2012.

An interesting question that I don't see commented on enough (including by Hirsch) is the fact that the Constitution leaves voting rules up to the states, so this federal SAVE Act should be unconstitutional on its face. This is explained in a recent MinnPost piece by law professor John Martin.
