Today I leaned Florida's orange harvest is only 8% of what it was just 20 years ago. The most obvious reasons are attributable to global warming:
- Increases in hurricane
- A better environment for disease and pests, particularly citrus canker and greening disease
The overall pattern over my lifetime looks like this:
It's notable that the recent years' production is lower than it was at the end of the 1950s.
