Goodbye, President Carter

A friend of mine pointed out on BlueSky this evening that when Jimmy Carter's announced he was running for president (in December 1974), that turned out to be just about at the halfway point of his life.

Many people are making statements about his life tonight, but there were two I thought were worth sharing:

Jimmy Carter was a Christian president at a time when those two words together weren’t a threat to the rest of us.

Had Carter been reelected, the chances are good we would now be living in a less catastrophic world. It's hard to remember how comparatively easy it would have been to choose a more sustainable path in the 1980s.
