Private vehicles over a certain size on city streets — particularly when driven without a commercial drivers license — should not be street-legal. This has become a common-place thought among people who care about safe streets for pedestrians and bike-riders (and people in smaller vehicles). The race to the bottom in vehicle size is a war without winners.
I also think that — in this age of the climate crisis — private helicopters should be illegal (and private jets, too). If we were serious about the rapidly warming Earth, they would be.
Today a friend shared this on Facebook:
He was not being sarcastic: maybe a little tongue-in-cheek, but more admiring.
Yachts should not be legal. The idea of pulling your private boat with a semi should not be legal.
Sometimes I despair.
