While at the Kohler Art Center earlier this month, I also saw an exhibit called Sharing the Same Breath, which grouped art from about a dozen artists around the theme of kinship among and between humans and nature.
In the center of the room, six large portraits were hung, with a beautiful array of shadows beneath:
The 2020 work is titled "I Am Your Relative." (As always, click the images for better viewing.)
I wasn't completely surprised to see how the backs of the panels were incorporated.
The artists are Dyani White Hawk (Rosebud Sioux Tribe), in collaboration with photographer Tom Jones (Ho-Chunk Nation of Wisconsin).
White Hawk, who is based in the Twin Cities, recently was named a MacArthur Foundation award-winner. Her primary medium is bead work.
