Today, one day after Indigenous Peoples Day, I attended a session related to Indigenous land rights. It was about present activities, but it started with a brief timeline of U.S. Indian Policy:

I don't think I've seen it presented in quite this way before. Though it was a brief part of the overall session, I learned a lot from it. It helped me plug in pieces I have read or heard about into the larger picture of what became U.S. policy.
The person who gave the overview recommended reading Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz's An Indigenous Peoples' History of the United States to those of us who haven't already.
