No Inflation

As seen at a neighborhood sale:

In addition to the exquisite label, I couldn't help noticing that the original price was $3.50, and the "garage sale price" on Saturday was $4.00, marked down to $3.00, so $3.50 if you average the two. 

I wonder two things:

• What year was this watering can originally sold, and how much is $3.50 then worth now?
  
• Why do I have such a thing for old galvanized metal?
