I had an optometrist appointment today for the first time in four years, which is a long time for someone my age. No major problems, thank goodness.
I found out that cataracts are rated on a scale of 1 to 4, with surgery usually happening somewhere around 2 or 3. I have the first signs, with a rating of .5. Since I know people my age and a bit younger who have already had the surgery, that didn't sound too bad.
My distance vision has improved, and my near vision worsened. Not a lot, and not unexpected.
So now for the first time in at least eight years (I'm really not sure how long it's been!), I'm getting new frames and a new prescription.
Someday in a few weeks, these will be a new part of me:
