Roman Tile Mosaics

Reaching back into my photo archive... I don't believe I ever posted these mosaics from Rome. They seem like a good thing for the last worst day of the 2021 polar vortex.

As always, you can click to see them enlarged.

This one of fish was labeled second century. I didn't record any information on the others, unfortunately.

If you can see it when enlarged, check out the owl at center right on this floor.

One of my favorite facts, which I learned somewhere along the way in life, is that ceramics are the hardest (or was it the most durable? is that the same thing?) substance humans have ever created. When you see floors like this that have been uncovered and are still in good condition, you can see the proof.
