In case you never realized,
The Electoral College sadly plays into making people think of states as monoliths. 834,533 people in Alabama voted for Biden. That's more people than voted for Biden in Vermont, Delaware and Washington, DC, combined. Alabama has more Democratic voters than won Biden nine electoral votes.

As long as the Electoral College exists, I will resist the idea that it makes any more sense to apportion its votes the way Nebraska and Maine do. Those extra Senate-based votes are still allocated based on the state's overall votes and so skew the votes unfairly, plus there's Congressional gerrymandering at work. It would still result in minoritarian outcomes, just like the Electoral College does now, maybe worse.
But reading this sure points up, once again, how terrible a thing it is.
