A Few Words from Chris Hayes

It was kind of a throw-away line at the end of All In tonight as Chris Hayes discussed (with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer) Mafia Mulligan and Mitch McConnell's nominating yet another unqualified ideologue onto a federal court, while also trying to overthrow the Affordable Care Act once more, while screwing up the pandemic response, and therefore destroying the economy.

I was half falling asleep so I can't even re-create the setup where the words came out of his mouth. Schumer had brought up the not uncommon allusion of Mulligan as Nero, fiddling while the country burns. But then he shifted references suddenly and said, "But I think Hoover is the best analogy." And Hayes wrapped it up, putting out this succinct new way to describe Mulligan:

"An ostrich named Nero Hoover."
