In November 2019, there was a sudden spike in the room price at Mafia Mulligan’s Washington, D.C., hotel on one particular Saturday night in December. The cheapest room was suddenly 13 times the average cost (which was $500 on surrounding days vs. $6,719 on this day, December 14).
It turns out, that was the weekend the Trump Victory Committee held its winter retreat at the hotel, selling out many of the rooms.
So it's not just that people curry favor with the president by staying at his properties and putting money in his pocket. It's that they pay him jacked up rates as extra bribes, too.
