Walk Through Your Insides

Here's another industry I never thought about before: the people who make the inflated gorillas you see on car dealerships and the bouncy castles that kids play in.

Well, it turns out those standardized types of inflatables are now made in China, but when you need a custom inflatable, you go to a company like Landmark Creations in Burnsville, Minnesota, featured in the Pioneer Press business section on Sunday.

My favorite part of the article was this photo by Scott Takushi:


Yes, that's a giant version of the inside of a colon, commissioned by the Colon Cancer Alliance.

Landmark Creations also fabricates a lot of giant eyeballs, for some reason, though I doubt they're meant for educational purposes the way the colon is.
