That's One Depressing Map

I always love a county-by-county map of the U.S. This one is more of a love-to-hate-it map, animated from 2007 to the present, showing the changing unemployment rate over time.

County map of the U.S. with red, yellow, orange, purple and black to indicated unemployment
I can't embed the animation, so you'll have to go to the site to see it.

Interesting how they chose to use light, sunny colors for low unemployment and progressively darker colors for high unemployment.

I thought the map you picture on your blog post was the final stage. So you can imagine my shock when I went to the link and watched the map turn darker and darker and darker. Yikes! It was . . . one depressing map.
