I was planning to write about Kristi Noem's jaw-dropping statement in a U.S. Senate hearing today, that habeas corpus means the president is allowed to remove people from the country... but then I saw that there are only three days (!) for public comment on the illegitimate FDA decision to restrict future covid vaccines to people over 65 or with medical conditions.
So instead I'm writing to encourage anyone who reads this to go comment.
I have no idea if it will do any good, and they'll never tell us how many comments they got or how many were against the decision... but we have to keep fighting these miscreants.
This is the link to the FDA comment site.
It's a pretty simple form with only a few required fields: your comment and your name. I don't think any of the city/state fields were required; I left my zip code blank but left in state and city. Email is not required.
This was my comment:
COVID vaccines should not be restricted to people over 65 or only with certain health issues. And updates to the vaccines (or the flu vaccine!) do not need the same testing they would if they were completely new vaccines.
The form supplies a list of categories but does not require you to pick one. Vaccines don't fit neatly into any of them. Drugs is the closest, and may be what they would expect. I didn't use it, though, and it sounds like at least some others are not selecting one either.
If it sounds unusual for them to allow only three days for comments, that's because it is uncommon. Very uncommon, like never done. It's pro forma, skirting the law, as per usual with this administration.
