A few weeks ago, on a beautiful September day, I revisited the best miniature golf course in Minnesota: Big Stone Miniature Golf and Sculpture Garden, out in Minnetrista. I wrote about it way back in 2008, and the course itself doesn't seem to have changed a lot, from what I remember and the photos I showed then.
But what has changed is the additional sculpture garden adjacent. So for today I have a few more photos from the course to add to the ones I took in the past, and then more from the works that aren't part of the course.
First, the inside of the women's restroom, which I don't think was there 11 years ago:
This mosaic detail is somewhere along the way on the course:
As is this blue mosaic chicken:
The Holey Ship (shown in my earlier post) is probably the most photogenic hole. Here's one of the many photos I couldn't resist taking this time around:
This is the final hole on the course, which is number 14 (yes, it's a 14-hole course, don't ask me why):
It's a carved stone lazy river, essentially. You watch your ball(s) slowly float around all the bends until they finally drop out of sight at the end.
And then you're off to the sculpture garden, greeted first by this pair of horses beside an over-sized chess board:
Then it's one darned thing after another, spread over rolling pastures, separated sometimes by fences and a big organic vegetable garden and vineyard.
This is only a sampling of the sculptures: There are probably three or four times as many as I'm showing. I don't know who the sculptor is, or if it's a group of artists, or if some of the works are purchased for display.
It's all very mysterious, and their website is not very revealing.
