Report Voter Suppression!

Thomas Nast cartoon of a ballot box being kicked by multiple feet. Caption: A national game that is played outNPR and Twitter are teaming up to provide a way for people to report problems with voting on Tuesday.

Basically, using a phone, you can call or text reports of irregularities, and even (with an iPhone or Google Android phone) use a phone-based application that works with GPS to input your report directly to a map that will be generated on the NPR website.

It's called Vote Report. The map will be located here. They expect to hear about "everything from long waits and broken voting machines to polling places with insufficient ballots."

The map will display raw input from people across the country, and NPR will use it to look for patterns and pursue stories. No irregularities will be described on the site's voting problems page or on the radio unless they have been confirmed by NPR reporters.

There's also a phone number to call if you are challenged at the polls: 1-866-OUR-VOTE. I believe it's being staffed by lawyers or other knowledgeable people (are those two always the same thing?) who can help to enlighten any poll workers who are not following the law.
