Signs from the Road

Heading back to Minnesota today, passing miles of cornfields and too much Generica. But here are a few things that caught my attention, for one reason or another.

Green sign reading Quaker Steak and Lube
Wow. How's this for a nonsensical business name? I think it's a play on Quaker State -- Pennsylvania's nickname -- which is also the name of a motor oil, and thus the lube... but did anyone consider the fact that it's pretty unappetizing?

Good to know that its a registered trademark, though. I'll be sure not to infringe upon it.

Bank sign whose logo is a handshake, where the sleeve of one hand is made up of red stripes and the sleeve of the other is blue with white stars (a flag reference)
Also seen in Erie, Pennsylvania. That is one great logo, hey? I always say, a handshake says it all when it comes to business imagery.

Jagged black cloud shape with mean face zapping human figure, off balance
Watch out, or that mean electricity monster will zap you when you aren't expecting it!

The letters Joop raised in metal on the side of a vehicle
A new brand of SUV, I guess.

Red sign that reads Eat 'n Park
Shouldn't it be Park 'n' Eat?

Yellow mini-cakes in a case with a sign in front that reads Lemon Baby Bundt
Not as bad as Roasted Baby Vegetables, but ewwww, just the same.
