What a strange day.
I was busy almost all the time; after I pried myself away from my phone relatively quickly after getting up, I went from one thing to another until almost 6:30 in the evening. All of the things I was doing were mentally very involving, moving from one topic to another. Sometimes there were chances to talk about the current political situation, but it was only a slice of the conversation.
The last part of the day was a three-hour problem-solving meeting held on-site, outdoors, with a group of people planning for a large event next spring. It was totally involving and I didn't even realize I had completely forgotten about everything else while I was there.
It was so great.
After I dropped off one of the other participants and turned on MPR for the trip home, the world came slamming back down. What a mistake.
Distraction is good if you can get it.
