
That was the year before Daguerre publicly unveiled the photographic process that came to be called daguerrotype.
Note that there was no spire on the cathedral at this time: it had been damaged by wind and removed in the later years of the 18th century, then restored during the post-Hunchback renovation of the mid-19th century.
