I participated in my first "bridge brigade" today. It was on the pedestrian overpass over I-94 in Minneapolis between Prospect Park and the East River Road area.
It's a grim little bridge, surrounded in an almost complete chain link tunnel, hanging over seven loud lanes of traffic. It was also windy up there:
Given the nature of the addressing speeding cars that are below you, it's not possible to get a photo of what it looks like when you're one of the people doing it. But here's how it works. The people on the left are facing the drivers going toward Saint Paul, and the people on the right (pretty far away in the photo) are facing the drivers going to downtown Minneapolis.
My sign is the large piece of cardboard just past the woman with the red coat. Someone else was holding it up for me while I took the photo. It had two words, painted in white, on it: NO KINGS.
The people who organize the brigade have got it completely figured out. They showed up with four banners that looked professional but were handmade, which they attached to the chain link, facing the Minneapolis drivers.
One banner was a countdown of how many weeks we've been waiting for the Epstein files. One was a thank you to our slain and wounded Minnesota legislators. And the one that I cheered the most was a double-wide banner that said:
GOVERNING BY TERROR
I think I'll be back next week.

Update: Somehow or other, someone did get a photo from the highway of the banners:
