At the Automat

A little more escapism for today. I saw this 1953 Elliott Erwitt photo shared by Cory Doctorow on Twitter just now:

It reminded me of seeing an automat for the first time, which was probably when I was 4-going-on-5 in early summer 1964.

It was when my family went to the World's Fair in Flushing. I have all sorts of vague to semi-clear memories of that trip, and the automat memory is more vague than most. But this photo (aside from the woman's 1950s clothing style) brought it back.
