One Tiny Piece of the Corruption

Today I learned, via the Washington Post's intrepid reporter David Fahrenthold that our tax dollars are paying for the Secret Service to rent a cottage full-time at Mafia Mulligan's Bedminster golf club just in case he decides to visit there (which he does fairly frequently, as we know).

The amount you and I and everyone else are paying for that cottage is $17,000 a month... the amount a family might pay for housing in a year in many a metro market, and much more than they would pay in smaller cities or rural areas.

That's $204,000 a year just for that one expense, going directly to a business owned by Mulligan and his family.

A cottage may look something like this... It's pretty hard to find photos of these things. I guess the first rule of exclusive golf club is: you don't take photos of exclusive golf club:

Oh, and guess what. According to Business Insider, the entire Bedminster golf club property is classified as a farm for tax purposes, since a bit of it is hayed and used to raise goats!

If it weren't classified that way, the Trumps would, of course, have to pay tens of thousands of dollars more in taxes.
