Two Rules of the Road

Here are two facts about driving in Minnesota (and probably in your state, too) that all too many car and truck drivers don't seem to know:

Bike-riders can use the full lane if it's not safe to stay all the way to the right. The rider of the bike is in the best position to be assessing that level of safety and believe me, has no interest in taking the lane if they don't have to because they know it will most likely result in an angry car driver right behind them.

Every intersection is a crosswalk, whether painted with a crosswalk or not, whether a full crossing or just a T... and pedestrians have the right to cross at every intersection.

I've come to the conclusion that we should be retesting people before their drivers licenses get renewed. At first I thought it should be the full driving test, but realize now that's logistically impossible, so I guess it will just have to be the written test. But even that would make a difference in disseminating changes in the laws of driving.
