From BoingBoing: the Library of Congress has just posted 11,700 photos by John Margolies into the public domain, taken until his death in 2016. They're of vernacular architecture, weird sculptures and businesses, signs, and various amusements in the U.S. I wonder what percent of these objects still exists?
Here are a few that caught my eye when I took a quick look through a small number of the 586 pages.
That last one is a proud part of South Minneapolis, and it's still with us.

That diner — oh my. The old editor of our local paper used to refer to “town talk,” but we have nothing like that diner to talk in.
The Margolies photographs have been online and free to use for a while — in 2017 I found and posted a photo of an Orange Julep (not Julius!) stand.
