A Few from the Climate Strike

The local youth Climate Strike went off without a hitch, as far as I could tell.

Well over a thousand people gathered on the steps of the Minnesota State Capitol at noon in bright sunlight and a strong wind, making the temperature somewhere between freezing and about 20 degrees, I'd say. The sound system was under-powered for the size of the crowd, which is a good problem to have, if you have to have one.

This sign in metallic paint is hard to read, but it says "Yo momma's so hot, she's about to experience desertification and rising sea levels." The one behind it says "Denial is not a policy."

The theme of education (and missing school to protest) was a common subject:

My estimate is that at least 80 percent of the crowd was under 20 years of age, though my photos may not reflect that very well because the young folks packed the steps and the older folks stayed toward the edges (including me, so that's where my photos were taken):

Many of the older folks' signs referred to their support for the young activists.

Some of the students were trying out swearwords on their signs. This one was pretty succinct:

They have a right to be angry.
