I don't have a lot of time to post today, so I'll just share this Star Tribune column about a Minnesota man who turned in his Eagle Scout badge to the Boy Scouts after Trump's speech to the national jamboree last week.
From this story I learned that troop leaders could have easily gotten silence from their troop members if they had wanted to, and that the scouts had been told beforehand to "behave and avoid chanting." So it wasn't just kids disobeying (though it was that), it was also troop leaders not using a tool they had at hand to enforce the rules they had been given.
Even worse than I thought.
And I don't dare look at the 238 comments on the story so far. I hope the former Eagle Scout, John Rowell — who must be in his 70s from the way his scouting experience is described — doesn't experience any negative repercussions from hateful people.
