Remember how Joan Rivers died because she was addicted to plastic surgery? This form of body dysmorphia has featured on at least two fictional television show (
Law & Order and
House, if I remember correctly), but when it's a real person, it feels wrong for media to cover that person.
Why is it wrong? Partly because it feeds the person's illness to give them coverage, and partly because it normalizes their response to dysmorphia for other emotionally marginal people who can fall into the same affliction.
