Wandering through Second Story Books in Washington's Dupont Circle neighborhood, I saw this bit of alternate history:
From the union bug in the lower right corner, I can tell it was mass produced, rather than a limited-run art piece. But I have no idea what it meant or the exact context in which it was created. Was it a statement about Nixon during or after Watergate? Or just a bit of wishful thinking in general?

So glad to see that Second Story is still there. It was a favorite haunt of mine when I lived there.
The store seemed to be in good health. It's funny, I don't remember it being there when I lived in DC in the mid-1980s, and I did spend time in Dupont Circle. But maybe it was before my used-book addiction started.
