Bearded Chicken, or Mouth and Beak?

While on a repeat visit to Bonnie's Cafe in Saint Paul, I saw this bit of artwork on a wall-mounted menu promo:

At first I thought the cartoon figure at right was an imaginary bearded creature, something out of the Odyssey, perhaps. But then I realized that not only did it have two chicken-like feet but it seemed to be dropping an egg out of its nether regions.

It's supposed to be a chicken. With eyebrows, nose, mouth, and beak. Or something.

And I only got the complete picture just now as I was writing this. It's meant to tell us the eggs are so fresh, they're falling out of the bearded chicken-thing right into the frying pan, which is over the stove burner.

Excuse me while I lay down for a minute to recover from the pain of laughing.
