The Other Koch

Koch Companies is a local trucking company here in the Twin Cities. I've long admired their funky, one-of-a-kind logo.

Koch Trucking logo on a semi, sort of naive mid-20th century logo with loopy K and slab serifs
But I was never quite sure if they were somehow connected to Koch Industries. You know, the diversified company owned by Charles and David Koch, of secret-seminar-hosting, Tea-Party-funding, money-in-politics, climate-change-denying fame.

As it turns out, all you need to do is visit the Koch Companies website to find the answer. Aside from a couple of truck photos and a quick list of services, the only content on their home page is devoted to that very question:

To our valued customers and visitors: In response to numerous inquiries we wish to advise that we are in no way related to or associated with the "Koch Industries, Inc." located in Wichita, Kansas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koch_Industries), or its principal owners, David H. Koch or Charles G. Koch.
As it appears on the site, there were two typos in this small bit of text, which I have corrected above. Numerous was spelled numeorus and principal was prinicpal. Somehow, I like the company even better because of the typos. It makes me think that whoever posted the text was so upset that s/he couldn't think right.

Post script: I almost missed it... the Koch Companies site is designed by Plaudit Design.

Thanks for the link, Sonja. I wouldn't have thought of Bachman's being related to Michele since her name has two n's and they have been well-known forever in the area. But I'm sure they get asked a lot.

At least it's not on their home page.

Hilarious! I love that they added a message to their website. I saw those trucks and was wondering the same thing!
