The Worst Abuse of Chocolate

Why does Tootsie bother to include the chocolate ones in a bag of Tootsie Pops?

Does anyone out there actually like them? These five are on their way to the trash as soon as I get done writing this post.

Their hard, almost flavorless shells must be the worst abuse of chocolate in history. Whoever decided that chocolate should be hard? Possibly the same people who came up with root beer barrels, I suppose, although those are a tempting taste sensation compared to chocolate Tootsie Pops.

(By the way, I've categorized this post as Sucker Born Every Minute because I just couldn't resist.)

Um. I kind of like "chocolate" Tootsie Pops. In the same vein as enjoying "cherry" Twizzlers and "buttered popcorn" Jelly Bellys. I am fascinated by fake food flavors, and always have been. Doesn't mean you need to mail me your Tootsie Pops, though.

I like the other flavors of Tootsie Pops, which are all 100% fake flavors, I'm sure. It's just the chocolate ones that have never seemed palatable.

To me, sugar is sugar. And after chomping through the fake chocolate of a chocolate Tootsie Pop -- there's the reward of sorta-real chocolate in the chewy center. Mmm.
