I didn't know the two concrete pillars outside the door of the new Seward Co-op were actually blank canvases, waiting to be filled, until one day this week when I found several mosaic artists busy at work.
They laid out their tiles, ready to put them on the first column.
By the time I arrived, they had already put up the hands at the top of the pillar.
The next day, that pillar was almost done -- except for the grout.
And they were at work on the second pillar.
Today both pillars are complete.
There are lots of nice details to pore over.
Melons...
butterflies...
and some beautiful corn.

Wonderful! A nice antidote to the strange grim reaper woman: the young mosaic artists. Very nice to think of you snapping those photos as the work progressed. Seward Co-op: what a great place. Thanks.
Wow, thanks for the pix. I've never been to the Seward Coop, but I'm glad I got to see the mosaics.
