TSA Does T and A

XRay like image of a woman's body, clearly showing breasts and public area
This is the type of image that the latest body scanners create for the TSA's employees to peruse.

This image, and a few (more disturbing) ones, are from the Der Spiegel website. Since I can't read German, I'm not 100 percent sure if the text says the TSA already has these scanners in use, or is planning to use them, or what. (Elenabella, can you help me out with the translation?).

Can you say invasion of privacy in English or German?

UPDATE Oct. 26, 2008: NPR covered the new scanners in May; they have been implemented at Baltimore-Washington International Airport. Additional info from that story: the new security checks include soothing background sounds (like seagulls, for god's sake!), soft lighting, and quieter communication devices for the TSA staff so they don't have to yell out to each other. All this reminds me of the title of an old favorite young adult book -- Sleep, Two, Three, Four! by John Neufeld.

Hi DN3,
It seems that they are testing the scanners in Europe, and will begin using them at the end of the year in Germany.

Thanks, E. I also just found an NPR story on the scanners from back in May, which says the TSA had recently started using the scanners at Baltimore-Washington International airport.
